Post Brazil Game Follow Up

I just sent the following message to a certain Polish friend which pretty much sums up my feelings after this game:

"well... basically it proved little. A few points to take from it:
1)Darren Bent, Jermaine Jenas, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wes Brown and Wayne Bridge are not good enough to go to the world cup and if any of them go there better be a shit load of injuries.
2)James Milner might well go and did OK, but lets not start sucking his dick yet.
3)Only when JT, Rio, Gerrard and Lamps are out, and probably Becks too, should Rooney captain England at this stage in his career.
4)We really need to find Vermeulen an English passport. Our reserve centre half options are frankly dire. Can Woodgate get fit and form in time?"

That Is All

An animal speaking: Not very into the premier league these days but if as you suggest, players like SWP, Jermaine Jenas, Wes Brown or Wayne Bridge arent good enough to make it in the squad, who are the replacements? How are the under-21 prospects?

Well if everyone is fit, as per my previous post, these players should not be needed. At right wing especially we have a great deal of strength with Walcott, Lennon and yes Beckham of the required class, and Milner showing much promise, albeit for the moment on the left. Centre mid, where Jenas plays, again we have strength as I'm sure you are aware, and there are one or 2 others that show promise such as Delph. Left back we have some unproven talent like Warnock of Blackburn and Gibbs at Arsenal, gametime will tell on those.

Right back is a problem. Looking at the U21 team this week we had Mancienne of Chelsea there I think and by all accounts he should be a good player. I'd like to see a Micah Richards resurgence there too. But it's all ifs and buts, hence my previous distant wish for Hargreaves to be fit to cover Johnson in SA.
